Sun Rouge?

I have just came across something about a new tea called “Sun Rouge”.
It’s from this research abstract.

It’s a tea cultivar, resulting as a cross between Camellia Sinensis and Camellia Taliensis. The leaves are red in colour.

Further search on Google brought me to a tea site known as Kanes Tea, which claims that Sun Rouge is “the world’s first red tea”. Apparently the drink will turn a shade of light pink when a drop of lemon juice is added.

The tea is being cultivated on a small island called Tokunoshima off Kagoshima prefecture.

I just wish there’s more layman information about this. It’s suddenly so fascinating.
